DNA Testing
DNA testing is personalised medicine at its best. Enabling you to be proactive with your health.
Dr Dix is a certified and fully qualified Lifecode Gx® practitioner. She offers a range of specialist nutrigenomics DNA test panels that inform you about how inherited health risks can be mitigated through personalised nutrition and lifestyle change.
Nutrigenomics testing may be covered by private health insurance. Please check with your provider for details.
Nutrigenomics is all about how your diet can change how your genes are expressed, which can have a big impact on health, weight, and fitness.
What you eat won't change the sequence of your DNA, but your diet and lifestyle can turn on or off certain genes or change the way they are expressed, which plays a major role in your personal health outcomes.
Nutrigenomics provides clarity on how you can better support your genes through nutrition, specific supplements (evidence based to YOU) and also lifestyle measures.
When you understand how your personal genetics can be supported best it allows you to take a more tailored and effective long term approach to your health.
What is Nutrigenomics?
How accurate are the DNA tests?
The genotyping data from Lifecode Gx is more than 99.9% accurate. However, how the results are interpreted can vary.
It's worth noting that your DNA is constant throughout your life, which means that you'll only need to take one test to gain a lifetime of insights. By choosing to incorporate DNA testing into your health and wellbeing approach you will gain the tools and information to optimise your health and well-being for years to come.
How do I do a DNA test?
A DNA test is quick and painless - all you need to do is a cheek swab.
Once you placed your order a kit will be sent to you in the post. Once received all you need to do is rub the supplied swab along the inside of your cheeks to collect any loose cells, pop this back into the tube, seal and send back via the envelope supplied. Your swab is then analysed by the laboratory and your results are normally ready within 4 weeks.
Once Dr Dix receive your results, she will then go through them with you in detail and use them to guide any recommendations for personalised food, supplement, and lifestyle changes.
Common Questions About DNA Testing
-
Lifecode Gx prioritise data privacy and protection. They do not share or sell your data. They anonymise all samples and only use your data to produce your personalised nutrigenomics report. After three months your sample is destroyed.
-
Once you have processed your payment you will be automatically granted access to my course platform which has all the information you need and details of next steps including instructions on taking your sample and recommended reading for anyone keen to learn more about nutrigenomics if they wish. -
For one test I am unable to offer this as the clinic has to pay the lab directly, however the lab do hold your genetic data on record for 3 months, so if you wish to add on additional reports you can do so for up to 3 months after your original sample. The cost of each additional report is £150. This is a great way of getting multiple reports and huge insight into your personal genetics and overall health, over a 2-3 month period helping spread the cost. If you wish to do this please advise me of your wishes when you confirm your initial order and I will make a note of which further reports you wish to run in the following months.
